Description/Job Summary

AgFirst has an exciting opportunity available for a Legislative Intern in Columbia, S.C. The internship experience at AgFirst Farm Credit Bank is designed to partner with students and create a learning experience that allows students to challenge themselves through projects and assignments. The intern selected for this role will be primarily responsible for researching agricultural news and ensuring congressional profiles are up to date.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Maintenance of AgSource Site

o Researching ag news relevant to agriculture and Farm Credit.

o Posting on the AgFirst AgSource site.

o Posting other documents on AgFirst AgSource site as requested.

o Ensure congressional profiles are up to date as well as other information.

* * Assistance in Farm Credit PAC Solicitation Campaigns*

o Communicating with Association Corporate Secretaries to update Association director lists.

o Using updated Association director lists to generate letters of solicitation to Association directors (merge mail) and mailing letters with pertinent information.

o Updating eligible Bank employee list by communicating with the Bank s HR contact.

o Producing mail merged solicitation letters to eligible Bank employees and mailing to them with assembled information.

  • Congressional Information Sheets/Packets

o Assisting in development of congressional information sheets by coordinating with the Bank s Credit and Marketing areas, as requested.

o Upon request, assemble congressional information packets with relevant information sheets.

  • Washington Experience Programs/Other Meetings

o Assistance with development of printed agendas, attendee lists, speaker bios/photos, nametags, tent cards and background information.Also, post these materials to AgSource site for participants.

o Assembling of materials into packets for program participants.

o Coordinating with the Bank s Meeting Planning area to ensure hotel reservations are handled as well as other logistics of the meeting.

o Coordinate with Associations on AgFirst Council Annual Meeting PAC recognition and ensure table assignments for award winners are designated and communicated.Assist with logistics as requested.

  • Assist in Scheduling of Congressional Appointments.

o Includes request for appointment emails to schedulers.

o Developing a schedule with confirmed appointments.

o Uploading appointment information on a phone app.

  • Maintenance of Congressional Contact Information,** other administrative duties as assigned.

Required:

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Excellent Communications Skills – Verbal and Written

Ability to work under short deadlines, customer service oriented, team player
