Volvo Group Intern – Uptime Network Development (Spring 2018) in Greensboro, North Carolina

Summary:

The internship role provides students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment and to support/promote the students’ career goals through contacts with professionals in their fields of study. The internship experience enables students to participate in professional activities for Volvo Group (Aftermarket) by working on important and innovative projects. Internships are structured learning experiences where interns and our full time professionals work together on projects within their selected organizations. These assignments allow students to integrate knowledge and skills in manners that are mutually beneficial to the students and Volvo Group.

Duration:

Seeking a candidate to work during the spring up to 30 per week.

Core Responsibilities:

A process driven candidate ready that will be challenged to tie data to improve process steps. This candidate would work with internal groups to understand how they impact the down time of a truck. Gather key information from each group and track it on Kanban boards. In addition the candidate would be data analytics to measure process steps and then work internally to make the process better. Key responsibilities:

  • Interview current stakeholders within the Uptime organization on how they impact the downtime of a truck. Capture key KPIs from that group and track.

  • Do data analytics with Repair Order time stamps that can help drive process improvement

  • Work with internal groups and key dealer groups to validate the data.

  • Review of Certified Uptime marketing / communication material to keep up to date.

Minimum Education Required:

  • Applicants must be a student currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in Business, Data analytics, Information Technology or similar. (Applicants not currently enrolled at the start of the internship will not be considered)

  • Applicants must have completed at least 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship.

  • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Exposure to process improvement, Kanban activities, etc

  • Experience with SAS data analytics, Access, business objects and excel is a plus

Personal Competencies:

  • Self-starter; able to work well without constant direction

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong data analytical skills
