Description

Our Drafting Interns are responsible for assisting department managers and/or project managers with various tasks. Performs elementary drafting assignments and works from designs of others. Works under close supervision; receives specific and detailed instruction as to required tasks and results expected. Other duties as assigned.

Aviation & Federal:

Project areas include design of airfield infrastructure type projects including runways, taxiways, aprons and site development. Projects include both military and commercial aviation projects involving grading, drainage, utilities, and pavement analysis and design. Drafting emphasis: Civil, Electrical and Structural

Energy:

Project areas include developing the infrastructure for electric generating facilities including site layout, grading, storm drainage, roads, railroads, combustion waste landfills, treatment ponds, water supply and environmental compliance. Drafting emphasis: Structural

Global Facilities

Project areas include on-site energy, healthcare, manufacturing, pipeline and liquid terminals and commercial architecture. Drafting emphasis: Civil, Electrical and Mechanical

Transmission & Distribution:

Project areas include electrical substations; both overhead and underground high-voltage transmission lines. Areas of design include site development, linear facility design, electrical & mechanical material design. Drafting emphasis: Civil and Electrical

Qualifications

  • Must have completed one year of CAD coursework.

  • Must be currently enrolled in college, university or technical school and in good standing.

  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.

  • Mastery of basic commands of at least one type of CAD system

  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.

  • Involvement on campus or in the community.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e. without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.
