The Procurement team is an integral part of Navistar operations. Accountable for the sourcing of direct material used in the manufacture of our products as well as indirect goods and services. With this magnitude of fiscal reach, the Procurement team actions are at the very core of Navistar operational success with direct bottom line impact.
Navistar's Procurement team manages Cost, Quality and Delivery performance of Navistar’s Supply Base. Key activities include management of Cost Reduction projects, assisting with strategic sourcing activities for new programs and transfer business, supplier contract negotiations and administration, supplier performance management, and developing strategies for tail spend suppliers to effectively consolidate the supply base.
As Purchasing Intern, you will be assigned to one of the following Procurement Functions based on need and interest/degree:
Direct Material Procurement
Indirect Services/Goods Procurement
Purchasing Program Management
Supply Chain Risk Management
Supply Chain Operations
Procurement Processes & Systems
Successful completion of a summer internship will lead to an interview for a full time position within Procurement, Supply Chain, or Navistar's Operational Management Development Program.
Develop a working knowledge of the trucking industry in one or more of the following areas: Navistar's product lines and distribution channel; competitors’ product lines; the retail transactional environment; the operations of a truck dealership; the operations of a parts distribution center; engineering, manufacturing, materials management, finance, marketing, human resources. Students will also develop an understanding of Navistar's infrastructure, values, policies and procedures and will gain some applicable business skills and knowledge.
Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's Degree
U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status required. (Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.)
