Sleep Number Electrical Engineering Intern in Minneapolis, Minnesota

The Electrical Engineering Intern role is a 10 week Summer internship within the Electrical Engineering department.

  • Assist electrical engineers in circuit board programming, verification and debugging.

  • Support electrical design activities including Bill of Materials maintenances and prototype build processes.

  • Conduct standard Select Comfort and Safety Listing laboratory tests.

  • Assist senior level technicians in conducting performance testing of electromechanical assemblies using test instrumentation.

  • Compile and maintain test reports, procedures, prototype requests, equipment specification, equipment warranty data, service and maintenance logs etc.

  • Assist other technicians with design validation & verification along with reliability/durability testing for new products both before and after product launches.

  • EMC compliance testing and solutions

  • Junior or Senior year college student majoring in electrical engineering; and, currently participating in major-level courses

  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize

  • Ability to work independently and/or within a team environment.

  • Conscientious, team player who drives for results

  • Ability to multi-task and manage numerous projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to design and execute validation & verification tests.

  • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings

  • Ability to conduct competitive evaluation and performance benchmarking of products, with input from engineers and technicians.

  • Experience in electronics (PCBA) assemblies is a plus.

  • Excellent trouble-shooting skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience with common data acquisition systems.

  • Ability to work up to 40 hours per week (Full-Time).

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • While the Research and Development Team is flexible in accommodating interns’ class schedules, a weekly and daily fixed schedule is to be defined and adhered. Deviations from the schedule are to be handled on an as-needed basis, and clearly communicated with, and approved by, the manager prior to each event.
