For this 10 week paid internship we are looking for interns to specialize in the following areas: Communications, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Merchandising, Retail Operations, Strategy, and Supply Chain. The week of welcome kicks off by pairing you with a mentor who will guide your experience as you work on a project tackling some of our top business initiatives.
This isn’t a job shadow opportunity, this internship is the chance to get involved, contribute and truly experience our workplace. This will be a fun, teamwork atmosphere with the opportunity to build strong peer to peer relationships. The internship will end with the opportunity to present solutions to relevant business problems to some of our top executive staff members. SummaryThe Competitive Pricing Analyst Intern works closely with the Pricing Operations and Merchandising team. This position will process pricing issues received from the field, validate competitive data and verify application crosses.
General Job ResponsibilitiesUpload pricing issues into AS400 databaseResearch competitive pricing issues and provide reporting on competitive pricing opportunities to Pricing Analyst, Category Managers and Product Solution Directors.Run Access queries to pull in various data pointsMaintain documentation on phone shopsPerform phone shops on categoriesValidate product crossovers with competitors and ensure pricing is accurate for equivalent productExplore and identify pricing discrepancies between Advance Auto Parts and Competitors across a multi channel environment including DIY, DIFM and eCommerce.
QualificationsJunior or SeniorCapable of working independently and consistently in an atmosphere of multiple assignments and shifting prioritiesAbility to collaborate with multiple departments and establish and maintain professional business relationships with external and internal customersStrong accounting and/or math skills; ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, variances and percentages; ability to apply concepts of basic algebraHighly proficient in Microsoft Excel; skilled in creating formulas and functions (concatenate, round, max, trim, if statement, vlookup, etc.)Strong analytical skills; ability to quickly identify discrepancies and competitor trends on price surveys and recognize when price re-checks are necessarySequel and AS400 skills and automotive product knowledge helpful
