The Red Hat Information Technology (IT) team is looking for a rising senior in a bachelor computer science program to join us as an IT Application Delivery Services Intern in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will work as a member of an innovative and critical IT Application Delivery Services team. You’ll help this team with developing and maintaining the disparate applications and services that make up the backbone of our customers’ online and back-office presences. You’ll work on debugging, fixing, and enhancing these applications. As an IT Application Delivery Services Intern, you will gain experience working in an enterprise software development role, expanding your technical, creative, learning, sharing, and teamwork skills while collaborating with local and remote team members and external groups around the globe.
Primary job responsibilities
Develop and test bug fixes and enhancements for Java web applications
Analyze log files to debug problems
Provide technical support and ongoing application maintenance
Help maintain team documentation
Desire to collaborate with teammates to solve problems and peer review code
Effective communication skills
Ability to receive positive and critical feedback from teammates
Ability to write, document, and debug Java and SQL code
Actively enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related field
The following are considered a plus:
Development experience on Linux using command line tools
Experience with additional programming languages, including AngularJS, PL/SQL, and Node.js
Familiarity developing with Spring and Enterprise Java Beans (EJB) frameworks
Familiarity with the agile software development lifecycle, especially scrum
Familiarity with QA automation tools like Selenium
Familiarity with NoSQL databases, especially MongoDB
