Genomic Health, Inc. Legal Intern / Law Clerk in Redwood City, California
Genomic Health’s Legal & Regulatory Department is looking for a first- or second-year law student who can work full-time for a minimum of nine weeks in Summer 2018. The Legal Intern/Law Clerk will work closely with Genomic Health’s in-house contracts and corporate, intellectual property, and regulatory counsel and be provided the opportunity to gain experience in drafting and analyzing legal documents. The Legal Intern/Law Clerk will receive a range of exposure to legal matters impacting a global healthcare organization.
The Intern will report to the Associate General Counsel within the Legal organization.
Research various legal (including IP) issues and apply them to contracts and operations of the Company. Areas of focus include commercial law, employment law, privacy and security and federal and state regulatory compliance, including regulations specific to health care and diagnostics.
Prepare confidentiality, services and other agreements from templates with Legal oversight.
Update legal team agreement templates, playbooks, workflows as requested.
Participate in daily operations of a global in-house legal department, including attendance at legal and business team meetings.
Work with various legal databases and systems.
Other duties as assigned.
Currently first- or second-year J.D. at ABA-accredited top tier law school.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
Ability to organize and prioritize time-sensitive tasks, with a strong emphasis on quality and client service.
Highly proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Able to integrate and apply feedback in a professional manner.
Experience in health care preferred, strong interest in health care required.
Positive attitude and able to work well as part of a team.
Standing or sitting for long periods of time may be necessary
