Program Overview:

This position is part of Southern California Edison’s (SCE) University and Campus Relations Internship Program. The Summer Internship program is a 10-12 week paid opportunity to gain hands-on experience with meaningful work, while developing your skills, and building your network. The internship has an estimated start date of May/June 2018 and an estimated end date of August/September 2018. Summer interns may have the potential to carry on as Year-Round interns, working part-time throughout the school year. Decisions to work as a Year-Round intern will be based upon summer performance, business need, and the interest of the intern.

SCE offers these programs with the belief that learning and development are important parts of building future leaders. Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in intern mixers, executive speaker series, site tours, community volunteer events, and cross-company networking.

Examples of what our interns do:

  • Work together with partners from a variety of teams to support cutting edge projects and initiatives

  • Analyze, develop, and execute action plans to improve department efficiency and data integrity

  • Utilize software to evaluate data and provide analysis

  • Build business acumen by attending meetings and giving presentations

  • Maintain accurate databases, and provide analysis and evaluation of data

  • Handling work orders and notifications completed by internal/external partners

  • Help prepare business documents

  • Provide scheduling support

  • Track and update company assets

  • Perform technical data review and validation

  • Other duties as assigned

The Audit Services Department assists management and the Audit Committee of the Edison International Board of Directors by providing independent and objective assurance services pertaining to internal controls, safeguarding of assets and governance, and advisory services requested by management to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Company's operations

Audit Services – Financial and Corporate Audits is responsible for providing independent assurance and advisory services of the financial activities in the company. This group is responsible for systematically evaluating high risk financial areas in the Transmission & Distribution, Customer Service, Energy Procurement, Controllers, and Human Resources organizations.

Audit Services – Operational Audits is responsible for providing independent assurance and advisory services in various operations of the company. This group is responsible for systematically evaluating high risk operational areas in the Transmission & Distribution, Customer Service, Power Generation, Environmental Services, and Nuclear organizations.

Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will work in teams to provide support in researching and analyzing complex data to effectively support engineering and business operations. They are also expected to maintain a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices and perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Work Locations:

Positions are available in the Rosemead Office. Must be willing to travel to various field locations in the SCE service territory as part of assignments.

Qualifications:

To qualify for this position you must:

  • Be currently be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, or closely related field at an accredited institution with a graduation date of December 2018 or later.

  • Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher

  • Have experience using MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Have strong oral, and written interpersonal skills

  • Proven ability to interface effectively and collaborate with peers, clients, management, and other organizations

  • Proven history of a self-starter, critical thinker, and problem solver

  • Demonstrated ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices

Desired skills in any of the following:

  • Experience with Microsoft Access, SharePoint, or Visio

  • Demonstrated experience generating reports using SAP

  • Demonstrated experience extracting data from operation systems and databases for production analysis purposes.

  • Demonstrated experience programming experience with Python, VBA, R, or SQL

  • Involvement with student clubs and organizations
