Under the supervision of the professional RN participates in patient centered nursing care across the continuum through an interprofessional approach to treatment, research, education and advocacy. This position contributes to the goals of the department by being providing an opportunity for the RN Intern to develop the foundation for critical thinking as it relates to nursing care. Through collaborative practice with all members of the care team, this role contributes to patient outcomes that meet the high quality of care provided by JHACH. The professional practice of nursing at JHACH involves the promotion of a culture of innovation and a commitment to academic growth and professional development.


1.Performs patient care as delegated by the RN Clinical Nurses in collaboration with the interprofessional team to provide the highest quality of care and clinical outcomes.

2.Demonstrates routine patient care activities and patient care procedures as delegated by the RN Clinical Nurse in the provision of care in the clinical specialty with the ability to perform all functions that is age appropriate, developmentally sensitive and culturally specific.

3.Identifies ways to improve the patient's experience of care, streamline care processes and lower costs, while not jeopardizing quality to improve patient, family and staff satisfaction

4.Works closely with and communicates effectively with all peers in a work environment that is highly supportive to retain all team members.

5.Provides collected patient data to the RN Clinical Nurse and documents all findings in the medical record.

6.Demonstrates interpersonal communication with patients, families, and staff.

7.Performs skillfully in life threatening emergencies including matching demands and resources during crises situations.


•Enrolled in an accredited Bachelor of Science (BSN) program

•Must be in the final year of nursing school and no less than 6 months from program completion

•Completed a course in fundamental nursing skills

•Current AHA BLS

This is a per diem position with flexible scheduling. Must be available to work at least 24 hours in a 2 week period.
