CommunicationsInternship:

This internship position is part of the Cargill Protein Communication team, which has responsibility for developing communications strategies and tactics, including:

  • Help manage and build the brand and reputation of Cargill Protein businesses

  • Help engage and align employees with the company’s goals

  • Help employees become better advocates for the company on issues that impact Cargill, our customers and our communities.

The Communications Intern will have exposure to the communication team’s entire portfolio of external and internal communication work. As part of the communication team, you will have the opportunity to work in an organization of 28,000 employees across the U.S. and Canada. The Communications Intern will be participating in external and internal communications projects, and supporting the team’s ongoing efforts to engage employees around our work with customers, communities and other stakeholders. Additional duties may include researching, writing and editing content for Cargill Protein’s main communications channels: our intranet and employee electronic newsletter.

Principal Accountabilities:

Responsibilities during your internship can include:

  • 50% Writing (researching, interviewing, etc.) & editing

  • 25% Exposure to business

  • 25% Other duties as assigned

Students will have the opportunity to:

  • Gain immediate hands-on work experience in one of the world's largest privately held companies.

  • Participate in orientation, mentoring relationships and other opportunities targeted toward development.

  • Network with employees at a variety of levels and in a variety of functions within the organization.

  • Receive regular feedback on job performance.

  • This is a full-time / 40-hour-per-week internship opportunity, which will begin May/June-August 2017

Environment:

  • The environment is team-oriented, fast-paced and hands-on.

  • Students are given the opportunity to apply their skills and gain hands-on experience working on various projects from communications strategy to writing for our most visible corporate communications channels.

  • Students also will have an opportunity to connect with Cargill employees globally and other Cargill interns in the Twin Cities.

Internship Programming:

  • Cargill offers both housing assistance and relocation reimbursement to interns who qualify (based on mileage)

  • Internships are paid and are at least 12 weeks in duration

  • Wichita, KS

  • Wayzata, MN

  • Travel approximately 30% or less

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited program in Journalism, Communications, or a related degree

  • Completing degree between December 2018 and May 2020

  • Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer

  • Willing and able to travel up to 30% during internship

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures

  • All candidates must be geographically flexible and willing to relocate for an internship opportunity anywhere in the U.S.

  • Able to complete a 12-week internship in the summer (May/June - August 2018)

  • Must possess a high degree of initiative and resourcefulness in completing work with limited guidance

  • Must be able to complete essential functions of this job as outlined in the job description with reasonable accommodations
