Program Overview

The IT Developer Fall internship is part of a 14 week internship program through the Iowa Economic Development Authority. The program will consist of a focused project in the subject area of the internship, working closely with a leader for mentorship. This internship is based out of Kum & Go’s corporate office in West Des Moines, IA.

Brief Description of Internship Focus

The IT Developer intern will design, code, and integrate, while developing and conducting tests. They will automate test plans and support existing applications, all while documenting and maintaining effective software applications in a .NET Microsoft environment. This individual will work closely with business customers to deliver solutions that meet or exceed the customers’ needs.


  • College Junior or Senior with an expected graduation date within 1 to 2 years.

  • A student at one of the Iowa community colleges, private colleges, Regent universities, or a student who graduated from high school in Iowa but attends an institution of higher learning outside of Iowa.

  • An interest in pursuing a career with Kum & Go post-graduation

  • Pursuing a degree inMIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent. Will also consider business majors with minors in IT.

  • Strong communications skills, curiosity, strong trouble-shooting skills, teamwork, strong work-ethic, fundamental understanding of technology life-cycle and IT concepts.

  • Knowledge of the following programs. . .

  • .NET and specifically C# and ASP.NET

  • Modern Web Development using frameworks such as Angular or React

  • Continuous Integration / Delivery

  • GIT

  • Requirements Analysis / Gathering

  • Agile Development

  • Cloud Computing (AWS, Azure, OpenStack)

  • Needs to enjoy variety and fast pace.

  • Excellent writing and communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)


You will be paid a competitive hourly rate for the internship. In addition, many interns may receive academic credit for their work through their college or university.
