Daktronics Hardware Design Intern in brookings, South Dakota

Internship runs 14 May 2018 - 14 December 2018.
As a Daktronics intern, you will get an opportunity to shadow an experienced Daktronics engineer and apply classroom knowledge. We are seeking a dedicated and highly motivated individual who is not only interested in developing professionally, but also drawn to being able to play an active role developing the next generation of Systems. Some of the primary responsibilities of this position include:
Prototype and verify new designs.
Test and troubleshoot existing designs.
Design and implement test fixtures and procedures.
Documentation to support designs, fixtures and procedures.
Perform customer service functions.
Work with little supervision. Complete quality work in a timely manner. Communicate effectively.
Work as an effective team member.
Be at work on time and maintain good attendance. Follow Company guidelines and policies.
Perform other projects and duties as needed to meet customer expectations.
Academic Requirements -
The preferred candidate will be a fulltime student of at least junior status currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering Bachelor's degree program, or those students who will complete the internship starting in the semester immediately following undergraduate Bachelor's degree graduation.
Able to take a semester off from school to complete the internship if applicable.
Must be able to commit to 40 hours per week.
Work through the Cooperative Education Internship Program with accredited university and Faculty Coordinator to arrange for credit while participating in this 7-month internship.
Required GPA of 3.0 or greater.
Unofficial transcripts or web transcripts must be submitted with application to be considered for this internship.

Ability to travel by air and ground. Valid driver's license and good driving record. Motor vehicle records will be checked.
Ability to communicate well with others via written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work with odors (solder/coating).
Planning, organizational, and problem solving skills.
Good oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills, self-motivation.
Background check may be conducted.
Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
