MIT Lincoln Laboratory Summer Research Program Intern in Lexington, Massachusetts
The Advanced Concepts and Technologies Group develops radar, communications, and systems technologies for use in future air defense systems. Of particular interest is the development of highly digitized phased-array radars and advanced signal processing techniques to enable the next generation of shipboard and airborne surveillance sensors. Major activities within the group include system concept development, modeling and simulation, signal processing algorithm design, prototype system design and development, and experimental field testing and data analysis.
The group is seeking a deeper understanding of what occurs when multiple differential games are chained together. An intern hired into this position will gain a basic understanding of differential game theory problems. The intern will be supplied with MATLAB code for pursuer-evader type problems, and will extend the code such that the results of one game will be used directly as input parameters into the next game. The intern is expected to analyze and interpret results. The intern will be expected to produce clean, reusable MATLAB code; to document relevant work; and to produce an hour-long seminar at the end of the summer that details work accomplished. If time remains at the end of this project, the work will likely be extended to a three-player problem.
-Must be working toward a Bachelor's or Master's degree in mathematics, engineering, or similar field.
-Working knowledge of differential equations. We prefer candidates with some finite difference methods experience.
-Working knowledge of at least one high-level programming language (MATLAB, Python, Julia, etc.). Willing to learn and work in MATLAB if not already proficient.
-Demonstrated communication skills, the ability to produce written documentation and to give an oral presentation.
-Basic Linux manipulation; some LaTeX experience; a very basic working knowledge of git; Powerpoint
