The Summer College Temporary position is a critical role that supports plant needs by maintaining a productive and safe work environment. This position is a great opportunity to gain real world experience and get exposure to the cement manufacturing process.
This position will reside in Mason City, IA. Deadline to apply is May 4, 2018.
What you’ll get to do:
Follow all plant safety policies and procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment.
Physically inspect plant properties, where climbing steps, ladders, working in close areas, working in elevated areas, working in adverse weather conditions, etc. and physical exertion is a primary responsibility.
Use tools/equipment including but not limited to: shovel, broom, jackhammer and possibly sweeper, forklift, bobcat, vacuum truck.
Observe operation of equipment to ensure continuity of flow, safety, and efficient operation, and to detect malfunctions.
Detects malfunctions in equipment operations by observing and listening to equipment operations and notifies supervisor of any problems.
Assist with unloading semi-trucks delivering seed.
Grounds keeping, painting and various duties.
Summer workers will adhere to all plant policies.
Who we are looking for:
Students enrolled in fall 2018 classes.
Previous work experience in a heavy industrial, construction, farming and/or manufacturing environment
Ability to work hands-on and not be afraid of dirty hard work
Strong written and verbal communication skills; strong problem solving skills
Ability to operate mobile equipment.
Mechanical and/or electrical skills are preferred.
Student must satisfactorily pass Lehigh’s standard pre-employment drug screen, physical and respirator test fitting and background screening.
