The Philadelphia Office of WSP currently has a need for an intern, supporting the Geotechnical & Tunneling Technical Excellence Center (TEC) Group. This is an excellent opportunity for students currently enrolled in an engineering program to gain real-world, hands-on experience by working with an industry leading tunneling team on a variety of challenging and diverse transit projects in the New Jersey, Philadelphia, and New York City region. Work assignments would include, but would not be limited to, assisting with geotechnical and tunneling related design of roadways, bridges, dredged material storage facilities, and railways using geotechnical programs, foundation design, construction support services and shop drawing reviews; and preparation of technical memos and reports. Develop your technical and communication skills under the supervision and guidance of experienced professionals.

WSP is currently seeking an exceptional candidate for a GEOTECHNICAL AND TUNNELING INTERN for our Philadelphia office for mid-May to September 2018.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist more experienced Geotechnical Engineers in broader Engineering activities
Perform routine Engineering functions
Assist in geotechnical related design and analysis
Assist with field work, including instrumentation monitoring during construction activities
Using GINT, SLOPE/W, SETTLE3D, GROUP, and various types of CADD design software
CURRENTLY standing as a Junior/ Senior student actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering (or related) Undergraduate or Graduate Program.
Must be motivated and have a strong desire to learn engineering skills related to geotechnical engineering
Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Must have completed basic foundational courses including: Intro to Engineering, AutoCAD, Engineering Drafting course, Soil Mechanics, and Mechanics/Statics
The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
Local candidates only. Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.
Some travel to Lawrenceville, NJ office and to field work in southern NJ possible
Experience with AutoCAD and knowledge of reading construction drawings
