TECHNICAL WRITER INTERN Part-time during the school semester and full-time during the summer. PRIMARY DUTIES The Maintenance Department is looking for detail oriented, college interns to serve as technical writers: taking complicated, technical terminology and translating it into plain language. Develop Preventative Maintenance procedures and other technical documents. The tasks involve research on process systems and equipment, interviewing maintenance technicians, and reviewing prints and manufacturer equipment manuals to produce a user-friendly document that includes photos, flow charts, line drawings, or other illustrations to enhance or clarify the action steps defined in the procedures. REQUIREMENTS Student needs to be enrolled as a full-time student and maintain at least a 2.75 GPA. Preferred majors: Electrical Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering. Requires expert user of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and AutoCAD, Visio or other drawing packages. Ability to use graphics effectively to communicate ideas. Good technical writing skills (clear and concise). Requires excellent written/verbal communication and time management skills. Good interviewing and listening skills.
