Description

The Praxair, Ecorse facility is seeking a process technology student to work as an intern production technician on a part-time basis. Production intern gets to work in multiple areas of the plant. An intern would be limited to a maximum of 1000 hours worked/year (equals out to about 20 hours/week on average). Praxair can be very flexible to accommodate student's class schedule. The goal is to have the student perform meaningful work for Praxair, while becoming familiar with the types of work that typical industrial plant production technicians perform.

Potential duties/assignments:

  • Hands-on production and operations duties

  • Assisting plant operations personnel with day to day activities such as taking readings and performing inspections

  • Assisting in mechanical and instrument troubleshooting/repairs

  • Updating documents in the area of safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance

  • Reviewing and updating plant drawings

  • Administering the computerized maintenance management system the facility uses to document preventive and corrective work on the plant equipment

  • Learning and assisting operators in assessing the efficiency and operating capability of plant equipment to optimize efficiency

  • Overseeing small projects

Qualifications

  • Student would have to pass all pre-employment requirements such as; pre-employment application, physical (including drug test), and background check

  • Currently enrolled in Process/Electrical Program, Technology Program, or equivalent

  • Having strong computer skills and hands-on practical experience in mechanical, instrumentation, or electrical equipment and systems is a plus
