Be involved in ongoing Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Tunnel projects and geotechnical tasks on transportation and other infrastructure projects with our Geotechnical & Tunneling Technical Excellence Center. WSP is currently seeking an exceptional candidate for a GEOTECHNICAL & TUNNELING INTERNSHIP within our St. Louis, Missouri office for Summer 2018.

This opportunity is available for a college student in good standing working towards a degree in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, Engineering Geology/Geological Engineering, or Construction Management within an accredited program; the student may be pursuing a BS, MS or PhD. The candidate will gain experience in geotechnical and tunneling tasks and projects under direct supervision with some of the firm's leading engineering professionals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Tracking and coordinating field activities for subsurface explorations for tunnels and other infrastructure projects

  • Developing subsurface data summaries and assisting in data analyses

  • Assisting in the development of subsurface profiles, data visualizations, calculations and technical memoranda relating to tunneling and other geotechnical projects

Job Requirements

Experience Qualifications:

  • CURRENT standing as a Freshmen/ Sophomore (T5 Intern I) or Junior/ Senior or graduate student (T6 Intern II) actively enrolled in an accredited Engineering (or related) Undergraduate or Graduate Program in civil engineering, engineering geology/geological engineering, mining engineering, or construction management degree.

  • Strong interest in the fields of Geotechnical Engineering and/or Tunnel Engineering

  • Flexible to perform field inspection work, if the opportunity presents itself

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • The selected candidate must possess the ability to work in the United States immediately

Preferred Qualifications
