JOB REQUIREMENTS: In 1911, Frank Lloyd Wright returned to the Wisconsin valley his Welsh ancestors had settled in and began building Taliesin, which would be his primary home and architectural studio for the remainder of his life. Throughout its long history, Taliesin has served as a living community of professional architects, artists, and students united by a shared appreciation for a "learning by doing" approach to education. Taliesin Preservation's education programs are designed to promote the study and understanding of Wright's architecture and the built environment as an art, science, and idea that embodies the human relationship through a diversified array of class field trips, summer camps, and more. Internship Summary: The K-12 Education Intern will gain valuable training and experience in educational programming development, planning, and distribution with a unique focus on the architecture, design, and legacy of Frank Lloyd Wright. This is a part-time paid internship seasonal $10/hour for 20 hours/week for 11-12 weeks in June- August. Learning Opportunities: Contribute to the research and design of an elementary architecture and design camp and classroom curriculum Assist with all June and July summer camps as camp assistant. Help prepare off site educational programs. Become familiar with the history of education at Taliesin. Experience first-hand the unique work environment at a National Historic Landmark that served as Frank Lloyd Wright's Wisconsin home and architectural laboratory. At least one year of experience working with youth programming in an education or recreational capacity. Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency. Demonstrated capacity to work with others in a creative environment and communicate with a wide range of people, including parents, children, staff, the public, and others. Demonstrated ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc., nd work safely at all times.
